Consider the outcomes for children living in the
developing world who fall into these statistics:
- 210 million children living in developing countries will NEVER go to school
- 1 in 5 children are sent to work between the ages of 5 and 14; half of them will work full time
- Every 2.7 seconds a child under 5 years dies from hunger and related causes
- Experts agree, based on population increase, a declining economy and the aggressive rise of AIDS, that PNG is at most, 10 years away from a crisis equal in severity to the situation now evident in sub-saharan Africa.

Gateway has been co-ordinating poverty relief in Papua New Guinea for over 15 years. In 1992 we began supporting the work of local pastor, Kyapo Trakalowa, helping him provide food, clothing, medicine, shelter and Christian leadership to the people of Vada Vada settlement, Port Moresby. Today, Pastor Kyapo leads a network of churches across PNG, ministering to the poor in Jesus name.
The Gateway Children’s Fund is partnering with Pastor Kyapo and the local church, making available the combined resources of The Gateway Foundation and Compassion Australia, to establish a broad based child development program in PNG
